FREE LIVE GRIEF WORKSHOP

What do I do with this grief?

Monday, September 7, 2026
6:00 - 7:00 PM ET

Does this sound like you?

Some days you get through the day. Other days, grief seems to come out of nowhere.

You may find yourself crying in the grocery store, lying awake at 3 a.m., avoiding people, or wondering why everyone else seems to have moved on. You might feel exhausted, anxious, angry, numb, or guilty for laughing when life keeps asking you to carry on.

People may tell you to be strong, stay busy, or give it time. They mean well, but those words rarely help when you are the one trying to live with the loss.

You do not need someone to tell you how to grieve. You need help understanding what is happening, what may help, and what you can do when grief feels overwhelming.

In this workshop, we will talk about:

  • Grief as a natural response to loss, not a diagnosis or personal failure
  • Why grief can affect your thoughts, body, sleep, relationships, and ability to focus
  • What to do when grief feels overwhelming or catches you off guard
  • How to make room for painful emotions without letting them take over
  • Simple practices that can help you get through difficult moments
  • How to recognize what you need and ask for support
  • What it means to keep living without leaving your loss behind

You will leave with a clearer understanding of your grief and practical things you can try when you are not sure what to do next.

An optional next step

At the end of the workshop, I will briefly share information about Awaken, my ongoing mindfulness based grief support community.

Awaken is a space where we practice these tools together week by week, with guidance and structure. There is no pressure to join. You are welcome to attend the workshop simply for the experience.

What this workshop is... and is not

This workshop is:

  • Educational and experiential
  • Grounded in mindfulness and lived experience

  • Focused on self-care rather than fixing grief

  • Designed to be gentle, spacious, and supportive

This workshop is not:

  • Group therapy
  • A place where you are expected to share or speak

  • Focused on moving on or getting over loss

  • A high-pressure or emotionally intense event

You are welcome to listen quietly, take notes, or step away at any time.
No prior mindfulness experience is needed.

About Heather Stang

I am a grief counselor, thanatologist, and the creator of the Mindfulness & Grief System. For over twenty years, I have supported people navigating life after loss, both professionally and through my own lived experience.

My work has been recognized by the Association for Death Education and Counseling, where I received the Clinical Practice Award for my contributions to grief support.

What matters most to me is creating spaces where people feel steady, respected, and not pressured to be a certain way. My book, Living With Grief: Mindful Meditations and Self-Care Strategies for Navigating Loss reflects the same approach I bring to all of my work. Practical, compassionate, and paced to honor the nervous system.
