Private Grief Coaching with Heather Stang

Expert grief support for people who want more than generic advice. Learn how to care for yourself, live with loss, and adapt to life after death with guidance grounded in mindfulness and modern grief theory.

Because grief changes everything

Grief after the death of someone you love is not just emotional. It can affect your body, your sleep, your concentration, your relationships, your sense of identity, and your ability to move through daily life.

You may feel shock, sorrow, anxiety, anger, numbness, guilt, or moments of disorientation that seem to come out of nowhere. You may be trying to function while carrying a reality that still does not feel fully real.

This is why grief cannot be reduced to a formula or forced into neat stages. It is a deeply personal experience that touches every part of your life.

You deserve support from someone who understands the complexity of bereavement and can help you care for yourself as you adapt to life after loss.

It is possible to live with grief in a way that brings more understanding, more self-compassion, and more room to breathe.

Grief affects more than your heart.

It can disrupt your nervous system, daily routines, relationships, focus, and sense of safety in the world. Private grief coaching gives you space to process what loss has changed, while learning how to care for yourself in the life you are living now.

Real grief support goes beyond platitudes.

As a thanatologist and grief expert, I offer guidance grounded in mindfulness, modern grief theory, and practical tools that help you live with loss. This is not about fixing grief or rushing healing. It is about helping you understand what grief is asking of you and how to respond with care and clarity.

You do not have to untangle this alone

Grief Coaching from the Author of Living With Grief

In Living with Grief, I share the mindfulness and self-care practices that have helped thousands of people live with loss in a more grounded, compassionate way. This work is not built on outdated grief myths or one-size-fits-all stages. It is grounded in thanatology, mindfulness, and real tools for caring for yourself when life has been changed by death loss.

"When you are overwhelmed by grief, mindfulness will help you cultivate equanimity, a calm and steady mind, even as painful emotions arise. Rather than avoiding or compounding what you feel, mindfulness is the practice that allows you to honor your grief as a natural response to love and loss, and frees you from self-criticism or shame."

That is the heart of my work. Not helping you get over grief, but helping you learn how to live with it, care for yourself through it, and carry love forward.

- Heather Stang in the Introduction to  Living With Grief

Real grief support goes beyond outdated advice

Grief is not something to fix, solve, or force into neat stages. It changes your body, your mind, your relationships, your routines, and your sense of who you are. Real support has to be able to meet all of that.

My work is grounded in thanatology, mindfulness, and the Mindfulness & Grief System I developed to help people care for themselves while adapting to life after loss. This is not about platitudes, pressure, or trying to get back to who you were before. It is about learning how to live with grief in a way that is honest, compassionate, and sustainable.

Together, we use practical tools to help you work with intense emotions, take care of your nervous system, make sense of what grief is asking of you, and rebuild your life around what matters most now.

This is more than coping. It is learning how to care for yourself, live with loss, and carry love forward without losing yourself in the process.

Whether your grief feels raw, complicated, disorienting, or simply exhausting, this is a space where you can be met with real understanding, expert guidance, and support that respects the depth of what you are carrying.

In our work together, you will learn how to:

Care for yourself without being consumed by grief

Learn how to work with painful emotions without being overwhelmed by them. Together, we’ll use mindfulness-based practices and practical tools to help you care for your body, mind, and heart during times of deep loss.

Live with grief in your daily life

Grief affects routines, relationships, focus, sleep, and your sense of who you are. I’ll help you adapt to the internal and external changes that come with loss, so daily life feels more manageable and more humane.

Make space for love, meaning, and memory

This work is not about leaving your person behind. It is about learning how to stay connected to the love that remains while finding meaning and purpose in the life you are living now.

Rebuild your relationship with yourself after loss

Grief can shake your sense of safety, identity, and trust in life. I’ll help you listen to what grief is asking of you, respond with self-compassion, and build ways of living that support you now.
