Defining Guilt and Remorse

In Buddhism, guilt and remorse have two different qualities. Guilt is self-blame coupled with the sense of self-loathing. Remorse, on the other hand, is the genuine acknowledgement of pain you have actually caused, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
